Taking preventive measures to protect your RV will really pay off in the long run. Not only will you keep away would-be thieves, you will also reduce the premiums for your

Vehicle theft-deterrent systems
We recommend using a theft-deterrent system to reduce the chances of having your
ATV,
motorhome,
motorcycle,
snowmobile
stolen. Here are a few examples:
-
Sherlock parts marking: Extensive marking of various areas of the vehicle either by sand blasting or engraving. This type of protection is an effective deterrent against car thieves looking to resell your vehicle or its parts.
-
The Clifford or 3XT immobilizer systems disable the fuel line, cut off the power to the engine and the ignition system. These systems are more effective than immobilizers installed by car manufacturers.
If your vehicle is equipped with another type of system, we likely recognize it as well.
Prevention of boat theft
-
Purchase a ductile cast iron or stainless steel trailer coupler with a high quality lock.
-
If you store your watercraft, deter thieves by blocking the wheels of the trailer or by storing it in a locked garage.
-
Be vigilant when you put your watercraft up for sale. Classified ad sites are a good source of information for thieves. Take extra measures to foil their plans. Don't provide a telephone number that will enable thieves to find your address. Instead, give out your cell phone number or your number at work.
-
Give your watercraft additional protection by having it engraved and by installing a tracking system.
Impacts of impaired driving
If you're arrested for impaired driving while operating your recreational vehicle, your driver's licence will be automatically suspended and you will be obligated to inform your insurer immediately.
-
Your premium could double or even triple for the three years after your licence is suspended, and could stay higher than your regular premiums for as long as six to 10 years.
-
Once you get your driver's licence back, you will be limited to minimum civil liability coverage of $50,000. This means that if you have an accident, you will be responsible for all of the damage to your vehicle.
-
You could also incur all kinds of other expenses, including the cost of extricating your vehicle, installing an immobilizer or lawyer fees.
At all times, terms and conditions pertaining to coverage are governed solely by the insurance contract.
