La Capitale Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the founding of CEGEPs

November 20, 2017 — The Fédération des cégeps and the OSM are pleased to invite all music and culture enthusiasts to OSM Celebrates 50 Years of CEGEPS. This anniversary show will be presented at the Maison symphonique de Montréal on November 30.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of CEGEPs, the OSM will be celebrating in the company of well-known artists who are past winners of the annual Cégeps en spectacle competition, with song, humour, dance and classical music. It’s an opportunity to hear and admire Koriass (spokesman for this year’s Cégeps en spectacle competition) along with Philippe Brach, Catherine Major, Claudine Mercier, Yann Perreau, Charles Richard-Hamelin, Vincent Vallières and Jessica Viau all on the same stage, under the direction of Adam Johnson and with staging by Monique Giroux. This unique event will also be broadcast live to most CEGEPs in Quebec, thanks to the efforts of the students enrolled in the Arts and Media Technologies program at the Cégep de Jonquière.

“This high-energy event, which brings together past winners and current participants of the Cégeps en spectacle competition, illustrates just how much the socio-cultural activities of CEGEPs have contributed to shaping Quebec’s cultural and artistic identity over the past half-century. This collaboration with the Montreal symphony orchestra is the very best way to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the CEGEPs,” declared Bernard Tremblay, President and CEO of the Fédération des cégeps.

“La Capitale is very proud to partner with the Fédération des cégeps and to present the live, unedited broadcast of the OSM concert celebrating 50 years of CEGEPs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students enrolled in the Arts and Media Technologies program at the Cégep de Jonquière, where I was once a student, for making it possible to broadcast this event throughout Quebec,” said Jean St-Gelais, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of La Capitale Insurance and Financial Services.
