Québec City, March 16, 2016 — La Capitale Insurance and Financial Group is proud to present Horizons, the new discovery experience at the Observatoire de la Capitale, one of Quebec City's most popular attractions. Under the artistic direction of renowned Québec creator, Olivier Dufour, the new Horizons centre will come into being thanks to investments of $100,000 from La Capitale Insurance and Financial Group and $325,000 from the Commission de la capitale nationale du Québec (CCNQ), the owner and manager of the Observatory, which is the highest point in Quebec City.

In addition to offering the highest and most beautiful sweeping view of Québec City, the Observatory will be providing a new and unique experience as of April 27, one that will allow visitors to learn more about the geopolitical, cultural, social, and economic history of the capital.

“For La Capitale Insurance and Financial Group, a partnership with the CCNQ and Horizons was a perfect match!” said Marie-Josée Guérette, La Capitale's Executive Vice-President of Corporate Affairs. “Having had our offices in the heart of Quebec City for the past 75 years and being neighbours with the Observatory, the highest peak in the city, we are delighted to present this innovative experience that will not only give visitors an opportunity to discover every facet of the city, but that willalso allow them to see what we have built, protected and valued over the years. For us, Horizons represents the defining and essential moments in the histories of both this capital city and La Capitale, our Mutual, by means of a single discovery experience,” she added.

“This partnership will breathe new life into the Observatory, the premier tourist attraction for anyone looking to learn about our capital or learn its history,” maintained Minister Hamad. “In 2015–2016, the Observatory will have welcomed an all-time high 82,000 plus visitors, breaking the previous record set in 2008. The renewal we’re announcing today will allow us to keep this momentum going, draw in more people, and provide a must-see attraction worthy of the world’s greatest capital cities.”

Olivier Dufour mentioned that “Observatoire de la Capitale provides excellent creative material: a city with four completely different faces, reflecting its history but also the originality of its temperament. Four faces, four different intertwining views, at times broad, at times intimate, that together paint the picture of a beautiful city like no other."
